Purging the past can be a daunting task when we start to review old photography files in an attempt to free up hard drive space. For the past number of months I’ve been spending a lot of time on my office computer system going back through old files looking for images that I can consider for some eBooks that I have under development.

Fix It In Post
Virtually everyone who has been out with their camera, and around other photographers, has heard someone say that they’ll ‘fix it in post’ when they get home. We may have even used those words personally.
Semantics can be extremely important in life as they guide our behaviour, and shape our expectations. The purpose of this article is to encourage readers to reframe the work they do with post processing… and move past the concept of ‘fix it in post’.

Accomplishment in life can be found in a wide range of areas including family, volunteerism, creativity, career and business to name a few. It is common to hold up the accomplishments of others as sources of inspiration or motivation for our own goals and dreams. Sometimes our adulation of others is misguided.
Auto Focus Considerations
This article discusses some basic auto focus considerations and was prompted by a few emails that I recently received from readers. Some of these emails had questions that were specific to the OM-1. Since I have never used this camera, and have no plans to do any kind of review on it, I’m unable to comment specifically on that model.
Year 10
It feels almost surreal to think that January 1, 2024 will mark the start of year 10 of this photography website. It has been a very interesting journey to say the least. We’ve certainly grown our subscriber base over the years, and it’s now quite possible that many of our newer subscribers may not be aware of what led to the creation of this website.

Importance of Shutter Speed
The importance of shutter speed is something that we can sometimes undervalue by attempting to use ISO values that are too low when creating photographs. We may read articles or view videos that are adamant that we should always shoot at low ISO values. While this can be appropriate in specific situations, using a low ISO and sacrificing shutter speed as a trade-off, can be problematic.

As photographers we often forget that the answer is inside each of us when it comes to improving our craft, and finding personal creativity.

The concept of selfishness is something that we can interpret in different ways depending on our conditioning and belief system. Often selfishness is judged negatively. One of the ways we can view selfishness is as a course of behaviour that occurs when someone is acting for their own benefit to the disadvantage of all others.

This article shares wording from a solicitation that I recently received via email. I have highlighted in bold face an egregious attempt at web deception contained in this most recent solicitation.
Spoiled by Technology
Lately, I’ve been wondering more and more if photographers have become spoiled by the technology found in their camera equipment. Over time, we’ve been treated so well by camera manufacturers that many of us fail to really appreciate the incredible image making power of the gear we hold in our hands every day. There really is no such thing as a ‘bad’ camera system today.
