Our journeys through life are connected to an assortment of travel companions who can help bring clarity, direction and understanding. Some people enter into our lives for brief periods, while others may remain connected to us for many years… even decades. Or an entire lifetime.

Some individuals we meet are strong individualists. They show us the importance of standing one’s ground, especially on matters of ethics and principle.
Other people bring colour and excitement to our lives. They blossom even in the harshest of conditions and serve as role models for us to live our passions.
We can face conditions that limit our choices during periods of extreme duress. It is important to understand that many people have faced similar circumstances. Sometimes they enter into our lives to share their experiences to help us realize that we still have a future ahead if we persevere in our journey.
The world can be a violent and cruel place. Events can be totally out of our control, causing feelings of helplessness, and the desire to retreat and hide from current events.
Travel companions can enter our lives to remind us that moments of serenity still exist even in the most turbulent of times, if we are open to recognize and appreciate them.
At times our journeys can require increased effort and faith in the future. Even when the outcome of our efforts is unknown and the future unclear. We can find inspiration in the challenges others have faced and overcome.
Some people who enter into our lives serve as guideposts and bring clarity to our journey. They help enable us to peel away the noise and nonsense in our lives.
We can experience feelings of intense loneliness and separation. Travel companions can appear for brief periods with a smile, a kind word, or a helping hand. Reinforcing the importance of having compassion for others… and for ourselves.
Travel companions can surface and give us encouragement to experience new things in life. To add some adventure to our journey.
Ultimately the wonders and beauty of life are experienced more deeply when shared with others. May we all have the courage to let others touch our lives.. and for us to risk touching the lives of others.
